Mobile apps powered by Augmented Reality (AR) technology, has not been only for bringing fun to users long, it has begun to be an effective interactive product demonstration tool to potential consumers. Especially for retail industry, traditional onsite shopping is much influenced by online to offline(O2O) business model. Many retailers in foreign countries change to let the consumers preview the new product in traditional print magazine but with smart use of AR technology.
A good example is from Vogue Fashion Magazine in Germany, consumers can view the Spring/Summer 2015 Fashion Trends by opening the AR app and scanning on the designated pictures. It can be shown as a 3D picture or fashion show video either. With higher customer engagement by using their smartphone to view the product vividly, it highly provokes their desire to know more by walk-in to shops or going to the official website of the products.
Thus, AR technology application has been becoming one of hot solutions to marketers and also for the product salesmen to have new product sales pitching with clients, in which can avoid carrying heavy or valuable sample products such as newest jewelleries, glass bottles etc..
